Who We Are

How We Work
Our reasons for becoming financial professionals are deeply personal. We repeatedly saw many friends and family struggling to find the help they needed to map out their financial future. We are confident that with our understanding of personal finance, coupled with our training as financial professionals, we can help people better prepare for the future. After years in the business, we have developed a reputation for educating individuals in an easy-to-understand manner so they can grasp personal finance and use those concepts to pursue their financial objectives. We feel a commitment to our community.
Our team approach adds perspective to all we do and provides increased benefits to our clients.

Michael Butterworth, ChFC, CLU, RHU, CLTC, AAMS, CFBS, CRPC, AWMA, AEP, ChSNC, CASL, RICP, Special Care Planner
When it comes to helping his clients achieve long-term financial security, Michael P. Butterworth believes that each and every client has special, individualized needs. With more than 30 years of experience in providing comprehensive financial strategies for individuals in all stages of life, Michael understands the factors that are crucial to designing and implementing a sound financial program. He works with each client individually, listens carefully, and proposes solutions that are customized to each individual’s needs.
But it doesn’t stop there, because clients of M.P. Butterworth & Associates know they can count on Michael for the long term. As he explains, “We help to ensure that your plan remains on course toward your stated goals by helping you make smart adjustments that reflect your changing circumstances and new opportunities.”
While Michael believes that all of his clients have special needs, he also lends his knowledge to those individuals who have special needs family members – those who have either physical or mental impairments. Michael works diligently to help these families: (1) understand the challenges they may face in caring for their loved one(s) over the long term; (2) recognize and apply for any government programs that may be available to them; and (3) learn how to manage their finances and title their assets in such a way that their special needs loved one(s) may continue to qualify for government benefits and entitlement programs.
As the parent of a special needs child himself, Michael understands these families’ challenges and concerns – and is committed to help them set up and maintain a personal financial program that suits the needs of the entire family for the long term. Michael is certified from The American College as a Chartered Special Needs Consultant. Michael resides in Shillington, PA, with his wife Deborah, and they have 3 grown children.
